Kerr Lake is one of North Carolina's premier fishing destinations. The 50,000-acre reservoir is home to largemouth bass, striped bass, catfish, crappie, and more. The lake hosts numerous state and national fishing tournaments throughout the year.

With 850+ miles of shoreline and 50,000 acres of open water, Kerr Lake is a boater's paradise. Multiple boat ramps provide easy lake access, and marinas offer fuel, slips, and boat rentals including pontoon boats and houseboats.

Kerr Lake has over 21 designated swim areas spread across its recreation areas. Sandy beaches and calm coves make it ideal for families. No lifeguards are on duty — swim at your own risk.

Four easy trails totaling 3 miles offer peaceful walks through hardwood forest, along the lake shore, and past historical sites. All trails are hiking-only (no bikes or horses).

Over 700 campsites across seven campgrounds offer everything from primitive tent camping to full electric/water RV hookups. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through NC State Parks.

Explore Kerr Lake by kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard. Calm coves and inlets are perfect for beginners, while the open water challenges experienced paddlers.

Kerr Lake's diverse habitats attract a wide variety of birds year-round. Look for bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, and migrating warblers along the lake shore and forested trails.

Thirteen picnic areas with shelters are available across the recreation areas. Most areas have grills, tables, and restroom access. Shelters can be reserved for group events.

Kerr Lake's wide open waters are ideal for water skiing and wakeboarding. The lake's size means there's always room to find a stretch of calm water.

Kerr Lake Country Club offers an 18-hole par 72 course with a driving range, putting green, and pro shop. Open to the public.
